K53 Disability Driver training

Rolling Rehab assists with managing the Driving Ambitions driving school, under contract to QASA.

Driving Ambitions has 4 adapted automatic vehicles that can accommodate many different types of disabilities, including quadriplegics, paraplegics, strokes, amputees, cerebral palsy. A Rolling Rehab representative assesses each client in order to establish which controls are best suited to their abilities, and how they are best positioned in the vehicle to enhance their driving ability.  QASA’s aim is to assist people with disabilities to become more employable by helping them to get a driver’s license.  Sponsorship is available through QASA for people with Spinal Cord Injuries who are unemployed or who earn a low salary.  For more info and application forms, go to www.drivingambitions.co.za or contact QASA on 031 767 0348/52.

In 2014 the Driving Ambitions project came 3rd in the SAB Social Innovation Awards.

QASA’s newest addition to the Driving Ambitions fleet is a Renault kangoo with the Space Drive system.  This vehicle was generously donated by Geoff Dear from Cape Mobility.www.capemobility.co.za.  It is electronically controlled and can be driven using a zero-effort mini steering wheel and an electronic brake and accelerator.
